Cabo is Picking Up.

Week of 12/25/18

Christmas week was slow in Cabo but picking up. There are a few jacks and roosters inshore. Yesterday we nailed a few great jacks. Offshore there is marlin and that’s probably the best bite.  It’s not wide open and a bit tough on the fly as they have been hanging deep. There is a lot of marlin on the finger bank and they are chasing teasers and are fly fishing friendly. The only problem is it’s a 40-mile ride to the bank.

On the non-windy days in the East Cape fishing has been pretty good for this time of year. We have some small to medium (8-20 lbs) dorado around. They have been biting best early in the morning and tapering off midday.  We also have some rooster fish around as well as skip jack tuna. There are small sardines and small ballyhoo along the beach and they have been chasing them.

It looks like we might get some wind here in a day or two for a couple of days. After that, it looks good for a couple of days. I will be here fishing in Cabo until the 2nd. I will be sure to report how the trip goes. Until next time tight lines.
