It’s been a breezy one down here in Baja this past week, with strong winds coming down from the north making conditions a bit tougher than we’d like. On most days, the wind started mid late morning, giving us a few hours of calm sea before it picked up and made things more difficult.The wind definitely slowed things down in spots, but we still managed to find fish—and even a few quality ones.
Bait has been super thick, which is always a good sign and definitely helped keep the action going despite the wind. We put in the work and were rewarded with some solid hookups, both inshore and off the beach.
There are some tuna around, but they’re running roughly 35 miles out and with the windy conditions we stayed closer to home this past week. That said, the boats that did go after them were rewarded with action. We are also seeing some skipjack closer to shore and have been having a blast with them when we find them. There are a few marlin in the area as well as the occasional dorado. The first two Blue Marlin of the year were caught this past week. It’s early for them but just goes to show you that you never know what you will catch while out on the water.
Hopefully we get a break in this wind soon, but even with the conditions, the fishing is still very much alive down here. We will be out there daily so please check back with us soon to see the latest updates.
