The fishing in Los Barriles has been excellent, with a variety of species being caught recently. Anglers have been landing tuna, marlin, a few dorado, and roosterfish. The past few days have seen some windy conditions, which are expected to continue into the upcoming week. However, the weather remains fishable, providing ample opportunities for a good catch.
The fishing for Tuna has been productive, with many boats reporting successful trips. Most of the action has been found offshore, with schools spotted around 15-20 miles out. Live bait and trolling with lures have both been effective techniques as well as fly fishing. The fish have been anywhere from football size up to 200 pounds. We caught a very large tuna that weighed 180 pounds. It was a little smaller after a shark took a few bites but what a fish.
The Marlin activity has been strong, with stripe marlin showing in good numbers. The action has been fairly close to shore between three and 8 miles out. The biggest concentration of Marlin this past week was from La Ribera to outside Cabo Pulmo.
Dorado were not as abundant as other species, and some nice dorado are still being caught. The ones landed have been of decent size, and they are mostly being found in the same areas as tuna. We did find a piece of floating debris about 20 miles offshore and it was loaded with small to medium Dorado making for some great fly fishing action.

Rooster fish are showing up in good numbers, particularly along the beach and inshore waters. There have been some bigger Rooster fish in the deeper water in the area of rincon. There have also been some schools of big jacks in the area as well giving anglers some good action as well.
The beach scene is lively, with many anglers trying their luck from the shore. Roosterfish are the main target for beach anglers, and they are being caught on occasion. Despite the increased competition, persistence is paying off for those putting in the time.
The upcoming week is expected to be breezy but still suitable for fishing. Anglers should prepare for some gusty conditions, especially in the afternoons, but the mornings should offer more manageable winds. Adjusting fishing times and techniques accordingly can help maximize success.
Overall, Los Barriles continues to provide excellent fishing opportunities, and with a bit of preparation for the breezy conditions, anglers can look forward to a productive week on the water. Until next time we wish everyone excellent fishing!
