Baja California Fishing Report: Magdalena Bay Marlin Madness & East Cape Update

We’ve just wrapped up an incredible run at Magdalena Bay, where the fishing truly delivered. We saw lots of marlin, dorado, and tuna, with the marlin fishing being absolutely spectacular. It was one of those trips that reminds you why Magdalena Bay is such a special destination.

Here in the East Cape out of Los Barriles, fishing has been a bit more scattered but still producing. There are dorado and skipjack tuna around, along with the occasional roosterfish. The roosterfish we’ve been seeing have been on the smaller side, generally in the 3 – 10 pound range, cruising the beach and nearshore structure.

We are expecting wind in the East Cape over the next four to five days, which will likely limit fishing opportunities for a short stretch. As always, conditions can change quickly, and once the wind settles, we expect things to improve.

We are already taking reservations for next year in the East Cape, and prime dates tend to fill early. I’ll be headed to the Bahamas just after Christmas and will return mid-January, but bookings and inquiries are always welcome in the meantime.

We want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you to all of our friends and anglers for another great season. We’re looking forward to 2026, spending time on the water together, and catching lots of fish.

Tight lines,

The Reel Baja
