“Baja Mexico Fly Fishing Report – Calm Seas, Pompano, And First Dorado catches of the year 2025”

Baja Mexico Fly Fishing Report – March 2025

The Reel Baja brings you another weekly update from Baja Mexico! This past week we’ve experienced picture-perfect weather conditions—calm seas, no wind, and warm, pleasant temperatures ideal for fly fishing enthusiasts.

While the conditions have been ideal, fishing activity has been somewhat slow. However, patient anglers are still enjoying success. In the Rincon area, Pompano have been making appearances, providing opportunities on fly rods. They have been in the deeper water so sinking lines are preferred. These powerful fish offer spirited fights, perfect for both seasoned anglers and newcomers alike.

Near the marina, we’re seeing smaller Roosterfish and Jacks. These lively fish are great fun on lighter tackle and make for an enjoyable fishing experience. Although numbers aren’t high, persistence can still result in rewarding catches.

A notable highlight this week has been the landing of a couple of Dorado, adding a little excitement for the season to come. Though not numerous at the moment, hooking a Dorado remains a possibility.

With a nice weather and the wind not scheduled for the next couple of days we will certainly be out there on the hunt. Please check back for our next report and the latest information. Until then we wish all anglers tight lines.
