Dorado and marlin leave the East Cape area as cold green water arrives

This past week our conditions here in the East Cape were not very conducive for fishing. Three days this week winds closed the port so no boats could get out fishing. Before the heavy winds we saw good auction for yellowtail. Most of the dorado and marlin have left the area of the East Cape as cold green water pushed into the fishing grounds. Before the wind the yellow tail were being caught either on fall jigs or by dead ballyhoo fished near the bottom. The port reopened today and looking at the forecast for this coming week it looks like we will have breezy to windy conditions until mid week but as we get closer to the weekend, there are a couple nice days that will provide anglers with great weather and hopefully good fishing.

We spent a couple of days fishing out of San Jose Del Cabo this past week. We experienced good action on the Inman Bank for Dorado and tuna. There plenty of sardines available for Bait. Using the bait we were able to get both dorado and a few tuna around the boat. We were successful in getting a few dorado on the fly but the tuna alluded our efforts to catch them.

This past week we also spent two days fishing out of Cabo San Lucas, out of Cabo San Lucas, there has been decent fishing for marlin as well as some dorado. Most of the marlin around the lighthouse area are being caught deep on live bait making it hard to fly fish for them. The dorado are fairly close to shore chasing schools of small ballyhoo. We ended the week in Cabo finding some nice rooster fish along the beaches just north of the lighthouse, giving us great action on our final day. All of these roosters were in the medium class with a few larger fish mixed in but most of the fish we caught were perfect fun size.

We will be on the water this week mostly out of Cabo San Lucas. We will certainly report how we do so please check back with us and see how we did. Until next time we wish everybody great fishing.

We will be fishing out of Cabo this week. We will be chasing marlin as well as dorado. If conditions allow we will also see if we can’t find a few rooster. We will be sure to report how we do. Until then we wish everyone great fishing..
