Fishing Report: Big Rooster fish, Tuna, and Marlin all in the mix!

Hello everyone,

This past week we continued to see good fishing for some big Rooster fish as well as Tuna and a few Marlin.

We continued to see excellent fishing for big rooster fish in the area of Rincon. These fish have been biting on small green jacks trolled slowly in about 50 feet of water. The best action seems to be in the morning but some boats report decent action in the afternoons.

We also experienced some great action for yellow fin tuna this past week. There have been multiple schools of porpoise holding Tuna. The porpoise have been anywhere between 15 and 50 miles out with the average run being between 20 and 40 miles from the hotel.

Along the beaches we are seeing some big Rooster fish among with a few Jacks mixed in. The problem is they are currently spawning so finding fish that are interested in eating is the challenge. We certainly cast to each fish we see and it’s fishing so you never know. This past week after presenting our flies to many Rooster fish that were not interested It all came together. I have a client who has been looking for a grande from the beach for quite some time. This past week it happened. I’m glad I could be a part of his first big Rooster from the beach. As they say it’s fishing so keep trying and eventually it will all come together. This week it did for us.

We also found a good number of smaller Rooster fish as well as some Golden Pompano from the boat. They were a little bit picky at the end of the week but we managed a few.

Overall the fishing remains good. The weather is starting to get hot and humid and the water temperatures are very warm. This should make for some good fishing over the next few weeks. We will be out there daily so check back with us to find out the latest fishing conditions. Until then we wish everyone excellent fishing.
