Magdalena Bay action continues

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving and is settling into the holiday season. Here in Magdalena Bay we are starting to see fall conditions that are typical for this time of year. Our nights are cool and on occasion very damp with temperatures in the mid to upper 40’s. The mornings have been quite chilly at times but once the sun is up and things start to warm up the day time temperatures have been very nice averaging around 75 to 78 degrees.

The fishing has been very good the past couple weeks. On our Northern fishing grounds we continue to see good fishing for Dorado and tuna. These fish have been anywhere from 8 to 15 miles out. The dorado have been scattered throughout this area with the tuna a little more concentrated around 10 miles out. There are some bouys holding dorado that are a little further to the South but have been a little inconsistent. They have dorado on them one day and not the next. When we have found them they have been willing to eat the flies thrown to them.

The tuna have been in the fun size ranging from 8 to 40 pounds. They continue to be in the same general area we have found them over the past couple of weeks.

We had a couple days of windy conditions last week keeping us from going offshore. On these days we decided to stay close and fish for grouper and snook. The bite for these fish has been excellent. We had some great action. We had many grouper we couldn’t stop and the snook were just as tough. We did manage to get a few very nice fish.

We did not fish for marlin this past trip as they are very far South and the weather conditions didn’t allow us to get to them. They have been in the area to our South just North of the Potato bank. It’s a very long run from our main camp and our Southern camp although much closer didn’t make sense with the wind and weather conditions that were expected.

On a fun note we had a blast this past week fishing the mouth of the entrada. We caught several nice pompano and the occasional rooster.

We have a couple more groups to go here in Magdalena Bay before we move down to Cabo San Lucas for the winter. We will be sure to let you know how we do this week. Until then we wish everyone good fishing.
