Marlin and roosters take center stage

This past week we fished out of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo. We fished on both the Pacific side as well as the Sea of Cortez side. We had good action for marlin this past week. We averaged six raised fish per day with three landed per day. The marlin were on the Sea of Cortez side early in the week but by the end of the week they had migrated over to the pacific side.

Closer to shore we found a few rooster fish. The average size was between five and ten pounds with a few larger fish mixed in. The roosters were hard to find but once you did they were eager to eat a well presented fly.

Over on the East Cape side out of Los Barriles the port was closed for two days due to windy conditions. It’s now back open and the fishing is a little hit and miss. There is still the occasional marlin being caught as well as some yellowtail. February is always a timeframe where fishing in the East Cape is a gamble due to weather conditions and cooler water. With that said there are always fish to be caught in the East Cape in February if the weather allows.

We have a couple days off this week but will be back on the water this weekend. We will be sure to report the latest conditions so check back here early next week. Until then we wish everyone good fishing.
