The old adage applies – It’s fishing

Hi folks,

It’s been a couple weeks since my last report. In that time frame things have changed a little bit. The fishing is picking up but the old adage of it’s fishing still applies. On some of the day’s along the beach we are seeing some nice fish. The roosters are showing on some days and not the next. Last week we were seeing a decent number of fish but as the week closed we saw very few along the beach. We did see less roosters for a day or two late this week but we had fun with other species from the beach. We caught some very nice snapper along with lady fish and jacks. There were a few small roosters mixed in there as well. Earlier in the week we had consistent shots at good roosterfish and had a couple eat the fly. They got everything but the hook.

Out of the boat we are seeing decent action for roosterfish and jacks close to shore. A little further out we have seen the first decent bite for tuna. The tuna have been with a school of porpoise and have been eating the fly on a regular basis. Hopefully they stick around for a bit. We also have seen a few dorado moving into the area. Hopefully these are signs of what’s to come. The bill fishing is also turning back on with good numbers caught last week.

Starting tomorrow I will be fishing with Peter Jenkins who owns the fly shop in rode island called the salt water edge. Peter has a group of anglers here for his annual hosted trip. We will be fishing from the boats as well as spending lot’s of time on the beach. I will be sure how the groups next six days of fishing goes.

Until next time……..

Jeff
