This past week I have spent time guiding here in Los Barriles as well as over on the Pacific side out of Cabo San Lucas. The weather is warming up here and so is the fishing.
we have had some really great fishing here in the East Cape on the non windy days. The bite for yellowtail has been very strong this past week. All the yellowtail have been good size with most fish being between fifteen and forty pounds. There are lots of black skip Jack mixed in with them providing good action as well. These fish are still deep so fly fishing for them is not an option. We have been having fun Jigging for them on light tackle.

We also have some good fishing to the North up by Cerralvo island for skip Jack tuna as well as a few yellow tail. In this area there have been sardines allowing us to chum the water and get the fish boiling on top allowing us to fly fish to them.

Over on the Pacific side we had good action for Sierra, roosters, and a few dorado. This action has been scattered up and down the area so finding it was half the battle. Once we were able to locate the fish we saw decent action. Most of our success was late morning until early afternoon. We did not see much action very early in the morning on most days. The action did slowed down some for us the last couple days. I attribute that to the full moon that we are currently experiencing. The action should pick back up in a couple days providing better action.
We are still experiencing some cool nights and chilly mornings but our day time highs have been very pleasant. With these temperatures warming the water over the next few weeks should start to warm as well giving us some great spring fishing.
