Water warms fishing slows slightly

Hello everyone,

This past week in the East Cape we experienced good weather and some decent fishing. Offshore the water temperatures are averaging about 87 degrees. With these temperatures we saw less stripe marlin and more blue marlin and sailfish being caught. Along with the billfish the action for tuna was fair. The tuna were associated with porpoise schools that were found between 25 and 35 miles offshore. The tuna that were caught were mostly around 20 pounds with fish up to 50 pounds mixed in.

The fishing for dorado was very slow this past week. Only a few dorado were caught this week.

Closer to shore we continue to see good fishing for rooster fish. There are fish in the area of La Ribera that are in the 5 to 15 pound class outside the marina. If your looking for bigger rooster fish there continue to be some in the area of rincon taking green jacks fished between 30 and 50 feet of water. Closer to the beach we continue to see some larger roosters patrolling the shore line but have been very hard to fool.

We will be out each day this upcoming week. We will be sure to report how we do. Until then we wish everyone great fishing.
