The angling has been pretty good for tuna throughout the week here in East Cape. The dorado bite has slowed down a little and we are not seeing the numbers we saw a few weeks ago. Bill fish are scattered around and if you look you will them, but we are very focused on the marlin bite that will be in full swing in Magdalena Bay shortly. We did see some wind this week which kept a lot of boats in for a couple days as conditions were less than favorable.
The beach is very dirty at the moment and the rain showers from yesterday did not help the conditions at all on the beach and only made the water dirtier. The grande roosterfish have been elusive, especially with the dirty water on the beaches, but we are finding some small rooster fish on the inside while fishing out of boats.
Magdalena Bay has come alive and the mangroves in the bay are fishing pretty well at the moment, with nice catches of grouper, corvina and plenty of bay bass, plus the occasional snapper. As the season moves on in the next few weeks, the mangroves will only start to fish better. Keep in mind that we do also have snook in the mangroves at Mag Bay. That’s right, you don’t have travel all the way to Florida to find some snook, we have them here in Baja.
Tight lines,
